Doug joined Newland in 2004 and is responsible for the oversight of all entitlement efforts throughout the portfolio and legal matters affecting Newland and its affiliates.  Doug provides leadership in acquisitions/dispositions and entitlement/development/land use issues.  He also provides support and direction for Newland’s In-House Counsel, as well as advising on risk management, litigation matters, finance/lender issues, workouts/restructurings, employment issues, construction projects, corporate governance, and other real estate management related matters.

Doug was recognized in 2010 by the San Diego Daily Transcript/San Diego Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsels as one of the Top Corporate Counsels in San Diego.  Doug is a member of both the Investment and Executive Committees for Newland. Doug was previously Senior Vice President, Corporate Secretary and General Counsel for TrizecHahn Development Corporation.  At Hahn, his entitlement experience included the Hollywood & Highland development in Hollywood, CA, Desert Passage in Las Vegas, NV, North County Faire in Escondido, California, and Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree, Colorado.  Doug received his Juris Doctor degree from the University Of San Diego School Of Law and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker.
