“I'm inspired to work with a company where customer needs are at the core of our business model. At Newland, our community design philosophy starts with a deep understanding of how people aspire to live, work, and recreate. Our teams apply this understanding to create industry-leading master-planned communities that will be enjoyed by families for generations.” — Eric Peterson
Eric Peterson, Vice President of Operations in the Portland market, oversees the development of Reed’s Crossing in South Hillsboro. He leads a multi-disciplinary team to research development opportunities, complete land planning and sales, manage finances, uncover commercial opportunities, and work with partners, builders and other stakeholders. Spending his entire career in land development and real estate finance, Eric joined Newland in 2017 as a senior project manager at Reed’s Crossing, where he had oversight of project design, entitlement, and construction.
Eric began his career working for his family’s homebuilding business in the San Francisco Bay Area. As the downturn took hold of the homebuilding industry, Eric turned his focus to distressed housing. Forming Praxis Capital in 2008, his firm purchased over 450 foreclosed homes and more than 300 multifamily housing units. In 2013, Eric moved to Bend, Oregon, where he worked for Hayden Homes managing land development throughout the state of Oregon.
Since joining Newland, Eric has helped launch Reed’s Crossing, a 463-acre master-planned community in South Hillsboro. Once fully constructed, Reed’s Crossing will provide 2,300 units of single-family housing, 1,300 units of multifamily housing, three school sites, a mixed-use town center, and over 60 acres of open space.
Eric attended The Wharton School – Pennsylvania University with an emphasis in Finance. In his free time, Eric enjoys playing tennis, cycling, and fly fishing the beautiful rivers of the Pacific Northwest.
