Brent Gibadlo is the team lead for Newland’s Charleston office. He has primary responsibility for Nexton, an award-winning 5,000-acre mixed-use community in Summerville, South Carolina. Located in the epicenter of Charleston’s fast-growing I-26 corridor, the community is planned for more than 10,000 homes and over 6 million square feet of commercial property. He has been involved in every aspect of developing Nexton since the community’s inception in 2009 as part of the development team at Westrock.
Before joining the Nexton team, Brent was Vice President with DPS Development Company, a developer of conservation and wellness-based communities, including the Ford Plantation and Greenbrier Sporting Club. During his time with DPS, Brent served in a number of roles, including acquisitions, finance, operations, sales, and marketing.
Brent is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and currently serves on the Community Development Council (Green Flight). He also serves as Chairman of the College of Charleston’s School of Professional Studies Advisory Board. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Charleston, Brent went to work for the U.S. House of Representatives, covering Joint Taxation and International Relations Committee assignments. He then went on to earn a Master in Business Administration from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
