Consumers Feel Good About Housing

With lower and flat mortgage interest rates, consumers are feeling good about the housing market. Fannie Mae's Home Purchase Sentiment Index inched higher mostly due to the perception of "Mortgage Rates Will Go Down" component of the survey. While there may be some general uncertainty about the economy, Doug Duncan, Senior Vice President, and Chief Economist says, "We do expect housing market activity to remain relatively stable, and the favorable rate environment should continue supporting increased refinance activity."
